Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What travel documentation do I need?

UNITED STATES CITIZENS

All United States citizens must have a Government Issued Passport, valid for at least six months beyond the return date of your trip, in order to travel to the Dominican Republic. Your passport must have at least one blank page per stamp. More information for United States citizens can be found
HERE.

NON-UNITED STATES CITIZENS

If you are NOT a United States citizen (are traveling on a non-United States passport), please verify your specific documentation and vaccination requirements with your country's consulate before departing. Please note that non-United States citizens may require a visa to enter certain countries, may require passports be valid for at least six months beyond your return date, and may require blank passport pages for entry and/or exit stamps.

ALL GUESTS

It is the sole responsibility of the attendee to verify and obtain all necessary documentation and vaccination requirements when traveling to another country. Many countries require passports to be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected return and may require blank passport pages for entry and exit stamps. Some citizens may be required to obtain a Visa and/or have specific vaccinations to enter certain countries.

It is also the sole responsibility of the attendee to verify, obtain, and be aware of all necessary documentation requirements for any required Covid-19 testing, proof of vaccination or negative test, etc. when traveling to another country. Many countries have different requirements for entry and exit; please check your country's specific Covid-19 requirements as well as the requirements of the airline you are traveling on.

We also recommend packing a photocopy of the picture and signature pages of your passport. If your passport should get lost, the photocopies will make it much easier to get an emergency replacement.

Dominican Republic E-Ticket

Visitors entering or leaving the Dominican Republic are required to complete and submit a digital entry and exit form that includes the traveler’s Customs Declaration, International Embarkation/Disembarkation form and Health Affidavit, required by the Ministry of Public Health, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and optimize the entry and departure processes. Visitors will need to complete one form for arrival up to 72 hours prior to travel, and another one for departure. The system will generate corresponding QR codes for each form. Visitors can print or take a screenshot of the QR codes, and keep them on hand to be scanned by local authorities at Customs.

Q. Should I purchase Travel Insurance?

Please note that travel insurance is an additional cost and is the responsibility of each guest to secure and pay for.

Because unforeseen circumstances may arise, we strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Travel Insurance gives you access to a 24-hour assistance hotline for expert, personalized support in a crisis. Travel insurance can reimburse you for prepaid, non-refundable trip costs - including vacation rentals, car rentals, hotels and flights - if you have to cancel for a covered reason, and can reimburse you for eligible meals, accommodation and transportation expenses during a covered delay. Travel insurance can also reimburse you for care following a covered medical emergency while traveling. Travel insurance can even arrange and pay for a medical evacuation if needed. This travel insurance coverage is only available for United States citizens.

Please email our Destinations Travel Partner and advise you are interested in purchasing Travel insurance. They will provide the Sequel Travel Vacation Department the necessary information for your travel insurance quote and connect you with an agent.

Q. How much luggage can I take?

Most airlines permit each passenger to take one carry-on bag and one additional personal carry-on item, such as a purse or briefcase/laptop case. All carry-on items must fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. Most airlines will allow you to check bags as well. Please check with your airline to confirm current luggage limitations and any applicable fees* for carry-on and checked baggage. Please note that many airlines charge significant fees for overweight or oversized luggage. Luggage may be locked only with a TSA approved lock.

Be sure that all baggage and personal belongings are properly insured. Items such as medication, jewelry or other valuables, breakable or perishable items, and important documents should be hand-carried. Responsibility will not be assumed by the airline for loss of or damage to these items.

*Please note that all baggage fees are at your own expense.

Q. What items can I carry on?

Due to potential security issues on flights, the Transportation Security Administration has updated its aviation security measures. For the latest information regarding what to bring, what to leave at home, and what to generally expect while traveling, please visit the Transportation Security Administration website at http://www.tsa.gov/.

Q. What is the weather like in the Dominican Republic?

Because it is located in the Caribbean, the weather in the Dominican Republic is excellent all year round. The temperature can range from 90 F at midday to 70 F at dawn. Temperatures can drop to a low of 65 F. In the tropics, although rainstorms can happen at any time of the year, rains usually fall for just short periods in the afternoon and evening. Thanks to its Caribbean location, the Dominican Republic is a sunny year-round destination. It is rare not to see blue skies during the day.

Q. What should I pack?

The Dominican Republic has warm sunny weather all-year-round. You should bring light cotton or linen clothing, and you may want a light cardigan, pants, and a light jacket if you get cold easily. Make sure you pack nice outfits to dine in upscale restaurants. Don't forget to bring your swimwear, cotton long sleeves for sun-protection, and shorts for the beach. Keep in mind that walking around in your bathing suit is acceptable on the beach, by the pool, or in outdoor areas of your resort, but not in the streets, supermarkets, or resort restaurants.

If you plan to visit churches or certain national monuments and museums, you may not be able to enter if you are in shorts or mini skirts. Some government offices will not admit you with a sleeveless shirt or without closed footwear.

Aside from clothing, be sure to bring any prescription drugs, your preferred sunscreen–limited brands are available here–a hat, sunglasses, and mosquito repellent.

The Dominican Republic is a modern destination, and you’ll find everything you need in multiple shopping c
enters around the country’s major hubs–from toy stores to clothing, pharmacies, and grocery stores. Just keep in mind that imported items will cost more than in your home country.

Q. Can I drink the water?

Tap water is not safe to drink and do not ingest water from the shower. The hotel will provide free bottled water in each guest room for your use and will have purified water at all dining facilities.

Q. What is the electrical voltage in the Dominican Republic?

Electric current throughout the Dominican Republic is conformed to 110 volts, 60 cycles. It is the same type used in the United States and Canada. Travelers coming from regions operating at 220 volts will need to bring adapters and converters.

Q. What if I have a special health concern?

If you have any health concerns that may require special attention, please contact us prior to departure. Passengers requiring prescription medications are advised to keep them in their carry-on luggage.
